Buxton Associates - Consulting Structural Engineers

In this section you will see some examples of the range of consulting structural engineering work that we have undertaken.

Kellogg / Brown & Root, London.
This assignment required remodelling of the reinforced ground floor structure to create a level office floor and reconfiguring the auditorium to provide tiered seating.

The project involved the removal of reinforced concrete walls and cantilever structures and the installation of a raised structural deck. Significant alterations to mechanical services required plant room alterations and the creation of new service risers throughout the building.

Alan Lennox Boyd Centre, London SW3.
This was a refurbishment, extension and modernisation of a community centre. It included significant demolition and the construction of a new core area using structural steel framing and glass curtain walling.

The project has received two awards from the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Environmental Scheme; the New Building Award and the Access Award.

Minley Manor Bridge, Frimley over the A323. For Ministry of Defence.
Here we specified the replacement of an existing damaged footbridge with a new steel structure. We designed and detailed the new steel footbridge and obtained all necessary approvals, including highways requirements and road closures.

Embassy Building, London.
This assignment involved rectification of damage to stonework and the portico floor due to corrosion of the supporting steelwork. The portico is currently undergoing reconstruction. The contract included obtaining listed building consent for the works.

58 Kidbrook Grove, London SE3, For Morden College Estate.
This housing accommodation project involved a new build development and also a new structure within the retained façade of the existing Victorian mansion.

The new build was a traditional masonry load bearding structure with concrete floors and steel & timber mansard roof.

The retained Victorian building comprises the existing brick façade with the removal of all internal structures and the roof. The existing façade required underpinning and the construction of a new four storey reinforced concrete structure with a timber roof over.
