We’ve recently returned to this laundry building to carry out further remodelling. Our initial work saw us remove the load bearing wall that ran down the middle of the Victorian workshop area.

 

This was required to allow the laundry to install modern equipment and to streamline their operations. We added in new steel columns bearing on to new pad footings cast either side of the original foundation.

 

Our new work requires us to remove one of the new columns, again to allow the laundry to install new equipment. We’ve followed a similar train of thought: cast new foundations, add 2 new columns, jack the load into them, connect the transfer beam over and then the old column can be removed.
