The design of a new-build sorting hall with partial mezzanine floor and associated internal offices, together with enclosed vehicle yards at each end.
The structure consisted of a steel framed building with a curved roof formed using Westock beams, finished in a combination of sheeting and facing brickwork. Piled foundations incorporating pile caps and ground beams were adopted for the building structure and perimeter yard walls. The ground floor slab was piled and a gas membrane with venting system was utilised. The yard areas underwent ground improvement to stabilise the surfaces.
