Architect: JAIA
We worked with JAIA Architects on this open competition entry for a new installation on the roof of the Queen Elizabeth Hall in central London. The idea behind the competition was to provide a one bedroom temporary home that provides spectacular views over the City.
We developed a simple structure that minimises the applied loading on to the existing roof. Hence, a light gauge steel frame supporting polycarbonate sheeting all bearing on to a skeletal steel framework. Rolled steel angles form the columns and hollow sections form the hips, eaves and ridge.
